Harry potter is one of the series in which the story doesn’t only depend on main characters. In this series the story is based on a boy who realizes how famous is he when giant “Hagrid” came to take Harry with him. In this story Harry Potter is not alone in his mission. He has his friends and also a few teachers who helped him and without whom he would never be able to stand against the evil powers of “dark lord”. Here I am going to give a short description of a few important characters of the harry potter series.

1.    Ronald Weasley

Ron is Harry’s best friend in Hogwarts. He belongs to Weasley family which was the first family to whom harry met on the “platform nine and three quarters (9 ¾)”. Ron is a character who is very nice in nature. Ron sometimes loses his temper quite easily. Weasleys is slightly a poor family so Ron doesn’t have new clothes and books like most of the kids in Hogwarts. He is forced to use old clothes and wand of his brothers and second hand text books. Ron is the Harry’s most sincere friend. He and Hermione had helped Harry in various dangerous situations in this series.

2.    Hermione Granger

Hermione is one of the very good friends of Harry. Harry first met her in the “Hogwarts express” when he visited “Hogwarts” for first time. Hermione is slightly different student. She is a “Muggle born” but she had great interest in studying magic. She is one of the brightest students of her school. Everything related to her textbooks is saved in her mind, just like a computer without any difference of even a single word.

3.    Hedwig

Hedwig is a female snowy owl who belongs to harry potter since he was eleven. Hagrid has given her to harry as birthday present on his 11th birthday when they were buying books from diagon alley. Harry had found the name Hedwig in text book of history of magic in first year. She is not only his pet but also his friend which is a source of relief for the horrible time which he passes with Dursleys. Harry potter use it to deliver letters and posts to his friends.

4.    Rubies hagrid

Hagrid is Harry’s friend. Hagrid was a gatekeeper at Hogwarts but later Dumbledore supported him and he became a teacher. He taught the “care of magical creatures” in Hogwarts. Hagrid was the one who took Harry from his parents’ destroyed house and left him safely in the private drive. Hagrid was the one who took Harry from private drive and introduced him to a new world of magic. Playing with harmful magical creature is his hobby. According to him harmful and huge creatures are cute and beautiful. This confusion has lead Harry Potter and his friends to danger several times.

5.  Serious black

Serious black is Harry potter’s god father. Harry figured this out in his third year at Hogwarts. Serious is very nice in nature. He was the best friend of “James potter”. James potter was Harry potter’s father who was killed with his wife “Lily potter” by “lord Voldemort”.  

6.    Fred and George Weasley

Fred and George are twins. They are Ron’s elder brothers. These two characters have added a lot of fun and humor to that story. They have their own joke shop in which they used to sell funny items. Both of them have also supported harry in his work against evil and cruelty.

7.    Dobby

Dobby was a “house elf” who served Malfoys. Unlike other house elves he wanted to get freedom. May be it was because of the malfoys’ behavior towards the elves. Harry Potter had helped him in getting freedom in the 2nd part “the chamber of secrets”. That’s why dobby was very thankful to him and truly wanted to do something for him.  

8.    Professor Dumbledore

Professor Albus Dumbledore is the headmaster of Hogwarts and also the greatest sorcerer in the world. According to Hagrid, Dumbledore is the best headmaster Hogwarts had ever had. Dumbledore is a very nice and calm person. He has a prefect control on his emotions and feelings.

9.    Professor McGonagall

Professor Minerva McGonagall is the deputy headmistress of Hogwarts. She is also the house mistress of the house “Gryffindor”. Harry, Ron, Hermione, Ginny and all Weasley brothers were sorted in this house. As a teacher McGonagall teaches transfiguration. She is a very honest and strick teacher. She never gives extra marks or support to the students who belong to Gryffindor house.

10.    Professor snape

Professor Snape is a teacher in Hogwarts who has been teaching “potions” there for several years. He is also the house master of the house “Slytherin”. His subject was not actually potions. Because of some reasons he was not able to find a chance to teach the subject which he actually liked (“defense against the dark art”). Most of the students don’t actually like his method of teaching.

11.    Draco Malfoy

Draco Malfoy was against Harry Potter from the first part. He is Harry’s class fellow. He is the son of a rich “pure blood” wizard “Lucius Malfoy”. He was a hidden supporter of “Lord Vodemort”.  Draco was sorted in the slytherin house. Draco Malfoy first met harry in hogwarts express. He insulted Ron there and tried to make Harry his friend. But when Harry refused to shake his hand he got angry and from then he is the small villain in the story. Draco Malfoy usually hurt people emotionally rather than physically. He has a prefect idea that what will make people most angry or what hurt them the most. He did this with Ron in the first part. And in 2nd part he hurt Hermione by calling her a “mud blood”.

12.    Lord voldemort

Lord Voldemort is the Harry’s greatest enemy. He is the one who had killed Harry’s parents along with many other wizards. He has strong evil powers. He is one of the darkest powers which wizardry world had ever seen. It is said that he was scared of nobody but Albus Dumbledore who, no doubt is the world’s greatest sorcerer. All his followers are called “death eaters”. They help “dark lord” to defeat all those wizards who are against his evil powers. He had also killed a lot of innocent people. His evil thoughts had taken away all his feelings except anger (like happiness, friendship and love etc.). Killing anyone even for a little mistake is a source of pleasure for him.
