Nokia N95 Preview
Product Description
N95 is a new N-series flagship smart phone by Nokia. The mobile phone weighs almost 120 grams and has dimensions 99x53x21 mm. Until now I have seen the product only in metallic silver color, pretty much similar color that we saw in Samsung cell phones. The product has two way sliding mechanism. User can slide the screen up to uncover the keypad or can slide down to access the dedicated multimedia controls. In the closed position we see a VGA camera, a speaker and product's logo above the 2.6 inch display. Below screen there are shortcut and navigation keys.

Nokia N95 comes with a crisp 2.6 inch QVGA display. The screen resolution is 240х320 pixels. You can place N95 horizontally and watch music videos and movies; the multimedia keypad is also helpful in this position.
With growing popularity of mobile phones music players, Nokia also joins the bandwagon by introducing N95. Its music player supports the portable MP3 format. The speakers were excellent. Like N91, the product has a 3.5 mm jack in which you can plug-in your standard head phones or speakers. Nokia N95 will offer 160MB shared memory with 128 MB microSD memory card included in the pack, but I am sure that you will have to switch to 1 or 2G card to store more music.
Nokia N95 supports 3.5G technology, also known as HSDPA. Presently different operators are testing HSDPA service, but it is expected that at the time of release major operators will have the facility running. There is also a built-in GPS receiver in the cell phone. The manufacturers claim that under best conditions the GPS receiver will offer an accuracy of 10 meters, which is fairly acceptable for a cell phone.
Nokia N95 also includes an application called Maps. The application will have pre-installed maps of many major cities; moreover users can also upload their maps and use them for free! Apart from this, the application also offers tool tips on the coordinates of popular locations. There is also an add-on for the software that enables navigation on roads, it can build a rout for you and provide voice notifications. What else can you expect from a mobile phone!
Nokia N95 comes with a 5 MP camera with Carl Zeiss lens. The camera also has auto focus, flash light and uses efficient image processing algorithms. With such a large pixel count you can easily get excellent 8x10 prints. Video recording capabilities of N95's camera are almost identical to that of N93 i.e. DVD quality at 30 frames per second. The product also offers video feature. N95 has TV-out, which is good for watching your videos on larger displays.
Price and Availability
The announced price of Nokia N95 is 550 Euro. In Europe the product is expected to hit shelves in March 2007. Unfortunately, according to official sources, N95 will not be released in North America.
Pros and Cons
Despite of being a smartphone, Nokia N95 is pretty light and small. GPS facilities offered by N95 are excellent. The major drawbacks of this mobile will include its low battery life. I except that its battery will have to be charged on daily basis for normal users, and if you are a Bluetooth, Wi-Fi or multimedia fan than you might have to charge the device twice a day! But on the other hand the cell phone offers a wide array of services. I think N95 will face a tough competition in the European market from Apple iPhone. With such bulk of features we place N95 in our “Product of the Year 2007†list.
