iPod Touch Review

Product Description

iPod touch is yet another innovative product by Apple, it was released on September 5, 2007. Its design is identical to iPhone. The product has a giant display which is the most prominent feature on the front side. Besides the display there is also a home key. The touch screen is more than enough to provide easy navigation through menus, web pages and pictures. Currently iPod Touch is only available in black color, but I hope Apple will launch the product in more colors to attract more consumers.

Review

iPod Touch has a gorgeous 3.5-inch wide screen. Multi-touch feature allows you to quickly navigate with your fingers. The product also has QWERTY keyboard facility which can be very helpful in adding contacts and web browsing.

iPod Touch ambient light sensor    iPod Touch accelerometer

iPod Touch features Ambient Light Sensor which automatically adjusts screen brightness with respect to light in the surroundings. This saves battery and provides easy viewing on content. Accelerometer automatically flips the screen to portrait or landscape bases on the orientation of the player.

Wi-Fi connectivity is an excellent feature in iPod Touch. Now you can buy songs easily from iTunes. You can also use Wi-Fi to access and publish videos using Podcasts or YouTube. When Wi-Fi signals are weak for a download, the process pauses and then resumes when signals are good enough. USB provides another option to connect iPod to your computer. The entire process is a breeze, just as you expect from any of Apple's product.

Sound quality of iPod Touch is excellent, but the earbuds included in the box were not good enough. The player can run a variety of file formats without any problem. Like other iPods this product also lacks programmable equalizer settings. You have to adjust these settings by using iTunes software.

iPod Touch Disadvantages

Although iPod Touch comes with Wi-Fi, but it lacks Bluetooth. Currently Wi-Fi in not available at all places and you have to have some sort of backup wireless connectivity on the go. There is also a need to add more application to the gadget like a dedicated email client and Google Map etc.

Another drawback of iPod Touch is that you can't turn off the Starbucks feature. This feature is not yet available and is expected to launch on October 2, 2007 (in Seattle and NYC). Earbuds are also not of the quality you expect from apple. Moreover there is no option to purchase viedo online using Wi-Fi. The product lacks voice and line-in recording facility.

iPod Touch Vs iPhone

ipod touch vs iPhone

iPod Touch is a trimmed down version of iPhone, hence its size is smaller. Touch has been launched for consumes who don't like the merger of cell phone and portable media players, or who want a service-free iPhone.

iPhone has better display and connectivity than iPod Touch. iPhone has camera and Bluetooth facilities which touch lacks, but definitely Touch has one hell of a storage space. Here is a comparison of displays.

Should I Buy iPod Touch?

On the whole if you are not an iPhone user than iPod touch is definitely a must have gadget for the holiday season. It has all the bells and whistles to take out any portable media player.

And spelling. Plus it's really poorly worded, looks like it's some foreign language translated to English by an American.
